Summary (& Evaluation)

To summarize, the Project was a meaningful challenge for the Group. It was the first Project for the groupmates, where work with a singular client had to be done, which was a good experience to have, as it could be useful and a lesson for the future. It was an important experience, getting to know the caseholder finding out more about her daily life, and trying to design something to make specifically her life easier.
When it comes to judging the success of the Project, it can be evaluated by looking back at the List of Requirements. As the watch Concept was chosen, only the first two of the categories of these apply to it. Hence, it can be confidently said that most of the Requirements were met, possibly with the exception of R1.5 – regarding safety. That is because the Prototype uses lithium batteries, which could possibly heat up and cause danger, so it cannot be confidently said that it would be fully safe to use. Yet, this was a very hard aspect to avoid in just a Prototype, which is limited to a narrow spectrum of low-tech components to choose from. Therefore, it can be said that the Concept, turned out to be (rather) successful.
Other than that, time management was one of the issues concerning the Project. As also mentioned on the website, on the day of the exhibition the prototype did not work as initially intended, due to an unexpected failure of a component. Overall, the amount of time that had to be put into the prototype was significant – due to having to “figure out” the code, electrical components, and physical components, which all had to come together. The issue could have been avoided with better time management, trying to leave more “margin” in case these sorts of issues suddenly appear, which can be a lesson to keep in mind for the future. However, the Group still intends to deliver a working prototype at the end of the Project and hand it over to Anne.
Unfortunately, another “loss”, caused by the issue was a lost opportunity for testing the Prototype. This partially limits the option of evaluating the success of the Project, as the opinion of the caseholder cannot be taken into account (or at least not in a timely manner – can most surely be done, after the exam, while handing the prototype to Anne).
