Journal & Second Interview

With the information obtained from the Journal, a second meeting took place. The information obtained from these two, combined with the previous meeting and research, allowed the group to enter the next Project Phase.

In the Journal, Anne documented 6 days of her life, in great detail. First thing that was noticed, was how active and "full" her days are, with rather little leisure or rest time. Besides that, she also noted down, when she was feeling unenergezied or experienced fatigue. However, these symptoms didn't come with any sort of clear patterns and sometimes seemed to appear out of nowhere, with little activities being done before fatigue occured - which partially undermined the Group's first vision for the Design Challange, which is discussed in further Section.

This made the Group read a little in-between the lines. It was noticed that some common activities, such as cleaning are not being noted down there, which could indicate that they could cause trouble. Also lack of rests was noticed as a thing that could be an underlying issue.

Second Interview

Since the interview took place soon after Anne's hip surgery, a large chunk of it was about that. She shared what are the struggles she's now facing while recovering. These included:

  • Problems with picking up objects from the ground

  • Standing up for a prolonged time (which makes especially cooking harder - a thing that she really enjoys)

  • Carrying (heavy) objects

Besides that, the Group also asked more about her Long Covid experience. One of the important information learned here was that the caseholder simply forgets to take breaks in a day, which could be contributing to her fatigue.
